My name is Whitney, designer behind Pine Tree Crochet in Toronto Ontario, Canada.

How did you get started designing?
I started crocheting prayer blankets for people in need and loved experimenting with different stitches and colors. I decided to design something for myself one day and thought that others might enjoy it as well.
Favorite part of designing?
When my idea for a design in my head turns out as expected or better with crochet.
What is most important to you when choosing yarn for a design? Look? Feel? Weight?
It really depends on what I am designing. For winter accessories warmth and feel is essential, especially with the cold Canadian winters.
If I am designing a purse or fashion accessory look and weight would be more important.
Do you have a favorite yarn?
I like the squish factor of blanket yarns, but my favorite type of yarn to work with is worsted weight.
Which project are you most proud of (photo)?
What inspires you when you create?
I am inspired by all the bright colors in nature.
If you could tell someone just starting to crochet one thing about crochet, what would it be?
Crochet takes time to learn, as with learning any new skill. Stick with it, be patient, and enjoy the process.
