I have wanted to do this for a few years now, so I decided that 2025 is the year.
We all have too much yarn, admit it. lol So how do we use up some of the yarn we already have without buying more?
A Challenge!
WHY A CHALLENGE?
I wanted a fun way for us to use up yarn we already have, maybe learn a new stitch, find a new pattern, connect with other crochet enthusiasts, and show off our projects :)
HOW DOES IT WORK?
Below you will find the "rules" and the challenge list. Every time you complete one of the challenges you will add the photo along with which challenge you completed to a post in the CMD FB Group.
Every month there will be another post for anyone who has completed at least 1 challenge. A winner will be chosen & a prize sent to them.
You will get credit for 1 challenge even if the project you are working on fulfills the requirements for multiple challenges. You can only use each challenge once in the 12 month period.
Look for the photo below in the CMD FB Group, add your name if you are joining the challenge! Your name will be added to a spreadsheet where I will keep track of how many challenges you finish monthly and/or in 2025.
RULES:
Projects must be crocheted in the year 2025.
One project per challenge task. (No double dipping! You'll get credit for 1 challenge even if the project you are working on fulfills the requirements for multiple challenges.)
Each project must use yarn you already have. Try not to buy any yarn for the challenges!
Once you have finished one of the challenges, post a photo of your finished item and which challenge it is for. There will be a Challenge Post on the CMD FB page. I will keep track on a spreadsheet.
Prizes will be awarded for completing 5, 10, 15, 20 & 25 challenges. One winner for each "category" (5, 10 15, 20 & 25) will be chosen at the end of 2025.
Monthly prize drawings will also happen at the end of each month for those who have completed a challenge that month.
All projects must be completed between 1/1/25 & 12/31/25.
If you complete 25 projects, you’ll be entered into a drawing for a $50 gift card! (You overachiever, you!) What the gift card will be for will be determined once I know where the winner lives.
Yes - you have all year to do the challenges.
Patterns you tested in the past or that you test in 2025 for CMD DO NOT COUNT IN THE CHALLENGE.

Project using Cotton: at least 45% blend
Project using Wool: at least 50% blend
Project using Alpaca or llama: 100% or a blend
Amigurumi or stuffy

Finish a project you started in 2024

Worsted weight
One skein project
Something crocheted in the round
Bulky weight
Crochet a pattern you purchased and haven't made yet

Mug Rug or Coffee Cozy
Socks or slippers
CMD scarf pattern (not a test you did)
Variegated yarn
Granny Square project. (anything)
Donation or gift

Favorite color
Blanket (worth double the challenge)

Create your own challenge! Use all stash yarn for a project, tackle a project that intimidates you, learn a new stitch ... make this challenge all yours!
