Cowl Challenge 6

MATERIALS

  • Bernat Premium (100% Acrylic, 360 yards / 329 meters, 7 oz / 198 g) 250 - 325 yds

  • Other Yarn Options: Caron One Pound, Red Heart With Love, Lion Brand Vanna’s Choice, Lion Brand Heartland, Red Heart Roll with It, Red Heart Super Saver, Caron Big Cakes, most #4 weight yarns.

HOOKS & SUPPLIES

  • Hook US H8 / 5.00 mm

  • Scissors

  • Yarn Needle

  • Measuring Tape

  • Stitch Marker (Optional)

GAUGE

  • 15 stitches = 4”, first 9 rows = 4”

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS

  • One Size: 25” x 9.25”

PATTERN KEY (US Terms)

  • 2trtog = 2 treble crochet together

  • altch2 = alternate chain 2

  • ch = chain

  • dc = double crochet

  • fsc = foundation single crochet

  • sc = single crochet

  • slst = slip stitch

  • sp(s) = space(s)

  • st(s) = stitch(es)

EXPERIENCE LEVEL

  • Advanced Beginner

PATTERN NOTES

  • * * - Repeat instructions between the asterisks.

  • Working in the round, join with a slip stitch at the end of each round.

  • The altch2 is the first double crochet in the round.

  • The chain 1 at the beginning of the round does not count as stitches.

  • Carry the yarn on the inside of the cowl.

 

INSTRUCTIONS


Round 1: fsc 91 (or any multiple of 4 + 3), join as per video. (92 sts)

Optional Round 1: ch 92 (or any multiple of 4), join without twisting the chain, ch 1, sc in the first st and each st around. Join. (92 sts)


Round 2: altch2, dc in each st around.


Round 3: ch 1, sc in each st around.


Round 4: ch 1, (sc, ch 3, 2trtog) in the first st, skip 3 sts, * (sc, ch 3, 2trtog) in the next st, skip 3 sts * around. Join.


Round 5: altch2, ch 3, skip 2 sts,* dc in the next sc, ch 3, skip 2 sts * around. Join.


Round 6: ch 1, sc in the first st, 3 sc in the next ch sp, * sc in the next st, 3 sc in the next ch sp * around.


Round 7: altch2, dc in each st around.


Round 8: ch 1, sc in each st around.


Repeat Rounds 4 - 8 until desired length.


Fasten off, weave in ends.
