Cowl & Scarf Set 2 - Windows

This stitch pattern looked like fun. It took me a while to figure out what I wanted to make with it. Why not a scarf/cowl set!

MATERIALS

  • Bernat Premium (100% Acrylic, 360 yards / 329 meters, 7 oz / 198 g) 225 - 350 yards per item.

  • Optional Yarn: Any #4 worsted weight yarn.


HOOKS & SUPPLIES

  • Hook US H8 / 5.00 mm

  • Scissors

  • Yarn Needle

  • Measuring Tape

  • Stitch Marker (Optional)

GAUGE

  • 16 stitches = 4”, first 8 rows/rounds = 4”


FINISHED MEASUREMENTS

  • Scarf: 52” x 7.75”

  • Cowl: 21” x 9.5”

  • - Repeat instructions between the asterisks.

  • Scarf: Turn at the end of each row.

  • The altch2 is the first stitch in the row/round.

  • Cowl: Working in the round, join with a slip stitch at the end of each round.

  • Chain spaces do not count as stitches.

Row 1: fsc 27 (or any multiple of 12 + 3) (27 sts)

Optional Row 1: ch 28 (or any multiple of 12 + 4), sc in the 2nd ch from the hook and each ch across. (27 sts)

Row 3: altch2, dc in the next st, ch 2, dc in the next st, ch 2, dc in the next 7 sts, ch 2, dc in the next st, ch 2, dc in the last 8 sts.

Rows 10 - 45: Repeat Rows 6 - 9.


Row 46: ch 1, sc in the first 2 sts, 2 sc in the next ch sp, sc in the next st, 2 sc in the next ch sp, sc in the next 7 sts, 2 sc in the next ch sp, sc in the next st, 2 sc in the next ch sp, sc in the last 8 sts.


Row 47 & 48: altch2, dc in each st across.


Row 49: ch 1, sc in the first st and each st across.


Rows 50 & 51: altch2, dc in each st across.


Repeat rows 49 - 51 until dc rows measure the same length as the “window” rows.


Fold in half, sew short ends together, weave in ends.


 

INSTRUCTIONS - Cowl


Round 1: fsc 83 (or any multiple of 12 + 11), join as per video.(84 sts)

Optional Row 1: ch 84 (or any multiple of 12), being careful not to twist the chain, join ends, sc in the first ch and each ch across. Join. (84 sts)


Round 2: ch 1, sc in each st around. Join.


Round 3: altch2, dc in the next 6 sts, ch 2, skip 2 sts, dc in the next st, ch 2, skip 2 sts, dc in the next 7 sts, ch 2, skip 2 sts, dc in the next st, ch 2, skip 2 sts around. Join.


Round 4: altch2, dc in the next 6 sts, ch 2, dc in the next st, ch 2, dc in the next 7 sts, ch 2, dc in the next st, ch 2 around. Join.


Round 5: altch2, ch 2, skip 2 sts, dc in the next st, ch 2, skip 2 sts, dc in the next st, 2 dc in the next ch sp, dc in the next st, 2 dc in the next ch sp, dc in the next st, ch 2, skip 2 sts, dc in the next st, ch 2, skip 2 sts, dc in the next st, 2 dc in the next ch sp, dc in the next st, 2 dc in the next ch sp around. Join.

Round 19: ch 1, sc in the first st, 2 sc in the next ch sp, sc in the next st, 2 sc in the next ch sp, sc in the next 7 sts, 2 sc in the next ch sp, sc in the next st, 2 sc in the next ch sp, sc in the next 7 sts around. Join.


Round 20: ch 1, sc in each st around. Join.


Fasten off, weave in ends.
