October Hotlist, Contest & News

It's finally pumpkin season! Pumpkin muffins, pumpkin cake, pumpkin pie!

All the good stuff :) Absolutely NO pumpkin latte's..... lol

Do you crochet for fall? I don't crochet specifically fall items, though the fall colors are my favorite. I don't crochet "Christmas items" either usually. Makes it too hard to design something, though I do have a few Christmas specific patterns in my shop.

A new month means new yarns, new patterns, another contest, and some CALS that are happening this month.

NEW YARNS

Lion Brand Wool Ease. I thought the colors were pretty (even though they are pink), so bought enough to do a few hat/scarf sets. But once I started working with it realized it's a bit itchy and my hands didn't really like the yarn. The yarn makes a nice hat, but I wouldn't wear the hat (too itchy), and won't buy the yarn again. If rougher yarn doesn't bother you and you like a bit of wool, I would say give it a try.

Paintbox Chunky Pots: I don't usually buy chunky yarn but it was on sale lol. The lighter color had nicer striping, I was a bit disappointed with the blue/green color. The yarn is nice, makes a great blanket! If it came in solid colors I would buy it again.

It's very easy to work with, no splitting, unwinds well. I don't think I would call it a true #5 weight..... but I have noticed that all yarn is getting thinner than it used to be. Shrink-flation?

It has been fun trying new yarns, more to come in the next months :)

Have you tried a new yarn you love? I would like to hear about it!

HAVE YOU THOUGHT OF BEING A PATTERN TESTER?

I'm always looking for great testers for my many patterns. When you join my tester group you are expected to test at least 2 patterns a year, make a Ravelry Project page linked to my pattern, take good photos, and added comments to the Ravelry page. For each test you finish you will receive your choice of pattern from my store as well as a copy of the pattern you tested when it's published.

Sounds like fun? Click on the graphic below to be taken to the FB group.

Always interesting to read about yarns. I’ve used woolease for a hat set. But it’s too hot in southern AZ for wool based items.
