MATERIALS

  • Paintbox Yarns Simply Aran (100% Acrylic, 201 yards / 184 meters, 3.5 ounces / 100 grams) 3 skeins

  • Other Yarn Options: Any light weight worsted yarn or aran weight yarn.


HOOKS & SUPPLIES

  • Hook US H8 / 5.00 mm

  • Scissors

  • Yarn Needle

  • Measuring Tape

  • Stitch Marker (Optional)


FINISHED MEASUREMENTS

  • One Size: 64” x 8”


PATTERN KEY (US Terms)

  • altch2 = alternate chain 2

  • ch = chain

  • dc = double crochet

  • fsc = foundation single crochet

  • hdc = half double crochet

  • sc = single crochet

  • slst = slip stitch

  • sp(s) = space(s)

  • st(s) = stitch(es)

PATTERN NOTES

  • - Repeat instructions between the asterisks.

  • Turn at the end of each row.

  • Ch 1 spaces do not count as stitches.

 

INSTRUCTIONS


Row 1: fsc 33 (or any multiple of 5 + 3)

Optional Row 1: Ch 34 (or any multiple of 5 + 4), sc in the 2nd ch from the hook and each ch across. (33 sts)


Row 2: ch 1, sc in each st across.


Row 3: altch2, dc in the next st, skip 1 st, 2 dc in the next st, ch 1, 2 dc in the next st, skip 3 sts, 2 dc in the next st, ch 1, 2 dc in the next st across until 3 sts remain, skip 1 st, dc in the last 2 sts.


Row 4: altch2, dc in the next st, skip 2 sts, SHELL in the next ch sp, skip 4 sts, SHELL in the next ch sp across until 4 sts remain, skip 2 sts, dc in the last 2 sts.


Row 5: ch 1, sc in the first 2 sts, ch 1, skip 2 sts, sc in the next ch sp, ch 1, skip 2 sts, V-ST in the space between the SHELLS from the previous 2 rows, ch 1, skip 2 sts, sc in the next ch sp, ch 1, skip 2 sts across until 2 sts remain, sc in the last 2 sts.


Row 6: altch2, 2 dc in the next st, skip 2 sts, SHELL in the next ch sp, skip 3 sts, SHELL in the next ch sp across until 4 sts remain, skip 2 sts, 2 dc in the next st, dc in the last st.

NOTE: The SHELLS are in the ch 1 sp from the V-ST.


Row 7: altch2, 2 dc in the next st, skip 3 sts, SHELL in the next ch sp, skip 4 sts, SHELL in the next ch sp across until 5 sts remain, skip 3 sts, 2 dc in the next st, dc in the last st.


Row 8: ch 1, sc in the first 2 sts, skip 1 st, V-ST in the space between the SHELLS from the previous 2 rows, ch 1, skip 2 sts, sc in the  next ch sp, ch 1, skip 2 sts, V-ST in the space between the SHELLS from the previous 2 rows across until 3 sts remain, skip 1 st, sc in the last 2 sts.


Row 9: altch2, dc in the next st, skip 1 st, SHELL in the next ch sp, skip 3 sts, SHELL in the next ch sp across until 3 sts remain, skip 1 st, dc in the last 2 sts.


Repeat Rows 4 - 9 until desired length.


Last Row: ch 1,sc in the first 4 sts, (sc in the next ch sp, sc in the next 4 sts) 2 times, sc in the next st, sc2tog, sc in the next st, (sc in the next ch sp, sc in the next 4 sts) 3 times. 


Fasten off, weave in ends.
