SPECIAL STITCHES & TECHNIQUES

Without chaining, work a single crochet into the first stitch. Insert the hook into the left-most leg of the stitch you just made (or the right-most leg for left-handed crocheters), YO and pull up a loop, YO and pull through 2 loops. You’ve just put another single crochet into the left-most leg of the previous stitch. Put one more single crochet into the left-most (right-most) leg of the single crochet, for a total of 3 single crochets, before continuing.

  • fsc: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fG-LiTY_khs

  • XBDC: this stitch is worked over 2 sts: skip the next st, 1 dc in the next st, now go back to the skipped st and work 1 dc behind the first dc – this creates an “X” or, a Crossed Back Double Crochet Stitch.

  • dc2tog: YO, insert hook in st , pull up a loop, 3 loops on hook, YO hook, pull through 2 loops, YO, insert in next st, pull up a loop, 4 loops on hook, YO, pull through 2 loops, 3 loops on hook, YO, pull through all 3 loops.

  • V-ST: (dc, ch 1, dc) in the same st.

  • 2dctog: YO, insert hook in the space indicated and YO again, pull yarn through, YO and pull through first 2 loops on hook, YO, insert your hook into the same space that you started in, YO, pull yarn through, YO, pull through first 2 loops. YO one last time, without inserting your hook into the space, and pull through all the remaining loops on your hook.
