MATERIALS

  • I Love This Yarn! (100% Acrylic, 355 yards / 325 meters, 7 ounces / 199 grams) 8 oz

  • Other Yarn Options: Any lighter weight worsted (#4) yarn.


HOOKS & SUPPLIES

  • Hook US H8 / 5.00 mm

  • Scissors

  • Yarn Needle

  • Measuring Tape

  • Stitch Marker (Optional)

PATTERN KEY (US Terms)

  • altch3 = alternate chain 3

  • ch = chain

  • dc = double crochet

  • 2dctog = 2 double crochets together

  • dc2tog over 3: double crochet 2 together over 3 sts

  • fsc = foundation single crochet

  • hdc = half double crochet

SPECIAL STITCHES & TECHNIQUES

Without chaining, work a single crochet into the first stitch. Insert the hook into the left-most leg of the stitch you just made (or the right-most leg for left-handed crocheters), YO and pull up a loop, YO and pull through 2 loops. You’ve just put another single crochet into the left-most leg of the previous stitch. Put one more single crochet into the left-most (right-most) leg of the single crochet, for a total of 3 single crochets, before continuing.

  • dc2tog: YO, insert hook in st , pull up a loop, 3 loops on hook, YO hook, pull through 2 loops, YO, insert in next st, pull up a loop, 4 loops on hook, YO, pull through 2 loops, 3 loops on hook, YO, pull through all 3 loops.

  • 2dctog: YO, insert hook in the space indicated and YO again, pull yarn through, YO and pull through first 2 loops on hook, YO, insert your hook into the same space that you started in, YO, pull yarn through, YO, pull through first 2 loops. YO one last time, without inserting your hook into the space, and pull through all the remaining loops on your hook.

  • dc2tog over 3: YO, insert hook in st , pull up a loop (3 loops on hook), YO, pull through 2 loops, skip 1 st, YO, hook insert in next st, pull up a loop (4 loops on hook), YO, pull through 2 loops (3 loops on hook), YO, pull through all 3 loops. 

  • V-ST: (dc, ch 1, dc) in the same st or chain space

  • TC:  [YO, insert hook into st, YO, pull loop through, YO pull loop through 2 loops on the hook] twice in the same st, skip 1 st, [YO, insert hook into next st, YO pull loop through 2 loops on the hook] twice in the same st, YO, pull loop through remaining 5 loops.

  • Chain spaces do not count as stitches.

  • The altch3 is the first dc in the row.

  • The chain 1 at the beginning of the row does not count as a stitch.


 

INSTRUCTIONS


Row 1: fsc 29.

Optional Row 1: ch 30, sc in the 2nd ch from the hook and each ch across.


Row 2: (altch3, dc) in the first st, dc in the next 5 sts, dc2tog over 3, dc in the next 5 sts, V-ST in the next st, dc in the next 5 sts, dc2tog over 3, dc in the next 5 sts, 2 dc in the last st.


Row 3: (altch3, ch 2, 2dctog) in the first st, ch 2, skip 2 sts, 2dctog in the next st, ch 3, skip 2 sts, TC, ch 1, skip 2 sts, 2dctog in the next st, ch 2, skip 2 sts, (2dctog, ch 4, 2dctog) in the next st,  ch 2, skip 2 sts, 2dctog in the next ch sp, ch 3, skip 2 sts, TC, ch 1, skip 2 sts, 2dctog in the next st, ch 2, skip 2 sts, (2dctog, ch 2, dc) in the last st.


Row 4: ch 1, sc in the first st, sc in the next ch sp, sc in the next st, 2 sc in the next ch sp, (skip 1 st, 2 sc in the next ch sp) 3 times, sc in the next st, 3 sc in the next ch sp, sc in the next st, 2 sc in the next ch sp, (skip 1 st, 2 sc in the next ch sp) 3 times, sc in the next st, sc in the next ch sp, sc in the last st.


Row 5:  (altch3, dc) in the first st, dc in the next 5 sts, dc2tog, dc in the next 5 sts, V-ST in the next st, dc in the next 5 sts, dc2tog, dc in the next 5 sts, 2 dc in the last st.


Repeat Rows 2 - 5 until desired length.


Last Row: ch 1, sc in the first st and each st across.


Fasten off, weave in ends.


Infinity Scarf: I wanted the scarf to be 58” long, so I repeated Rows 2 - 5 until it was 29” long, then did a repeat of Row 2 for another 29”.  Fold in ½ with the short ends together and sew together.

Weave in ends.
