Scarf Challenge 24

I purchased this yarn a few years ago, but hadn't figured out what I wanted to make with it. Still wasn't sure, so decided on a scarf. It's nice yarn, I use Estelle Yarns quite often for shawls.


MATERIALS

  • Estelle Yarns Worsted (50% Acrylic,40% Wool, 10% Nylon, 219 yards / 200 meters, 3.53 ounces / 100 grams) Approximately 310 yds.

  • Other Yarn Options: Any #3 dk weight yarn

HOOKS & SUPPLIES

  • Hook US 7 / 4.5 mm

  • Scissors

  • Yarn Needle

  • Measuring Tape

  • Stitch Marker (Optional)

GAUGE

  • 17 stitches = 4”, first 8 rows = 4”

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS

  • One Size: 68” x 6.25”

PATTERN KEY (US Terms)

  • altch2 = alternate chain 2

  • ch = chain

  • dc = double crochet

  • fsc = foundation single crochet

  • sc = single crochet

  • slst = slip stitch

  • sp(s) = space(s)

  • st(s) = stitch(es)

  • YO = yarn over

  • dc2tog over 5: Yarn over (YO) hook, insert hook in stitch(st) , pull up a loop, 3 loops on hook. YO hook, pull through 2 loops. Skip 3 sts. YO hook insert in next st, pull up a loop, 4 loops on hook. YO, pull through 2 loops, 3 loops on hook. YO pull through all 3 loops.

  • V-ST: (dc, ch 3, dc) in the same stitch.

PATTERN NOTES

  • * * - Repeat instructions between the asterisks.

  • Turn at the end of each row.

  • The altch2 at the beginning of the row is the first double crochet.

  • Chain spaces do not count as stitches.

 

INSTRUCTIONS


Row 1: fsc 29 (or any multiple of 10 + 9)

Optional Row 1: ch 30 (or any multiple of 10), sc in the 2nd ch from the hook and each ch across. (29 sts)


Row 2: ch 1, sc in each st across.


Row 3: altch2, dc in the next 6 sts, * ch 2, dc2tog over 5, ch 2, dc in the next 5 sts * across, dc in the last 2 sts.


Row 4: altch2, dc in the next 6 sts, * V-ST in the next st, dc in the next 5 sts * across, dc in the last 2 sts.


Row 5: altch2, dc in the next st, ch 2, dc2tog over 5, ch 2, * dc in the next st, 3 dc in the next ch sp, dc in the next st, ch 2, dc2tog over 5, ch 2 * across, dc in the last 2 sts.


Row 6: altch2, dc in the next st, V-ST in the next st, * dc in the next 5 sts, V-ST in the next st * across, dc in the last 2 sts.


Row 7: altch2, dc in the next 2 sts, 3 dc in the next ch sp, dc in the next st, * ch 2, dc2tog over 5, ch 2, dc in the next st, 3 dc in the next ch sp, dc in the next st * across, dc in the last 2 sts.


Row 8: altch2, dc in the next 6 sts, * V-ST in the next st, dc in the next 5 sts * across, dc in the last 2 sts.


Repeat rows 5 - 8 until desired length. Change colors on any Row 5 or Row 7.


2nd last row: ch 1, sc in the first 8 sts, * 3 sc in the next ch sp, sc in the next 7 sts * across, sc in the last st.


Last Row: ch 1, sc in each st across.


Fasten off, weave in ends.

Lovely pattern. I don’t make many scarves as I live in such a warm climate. Might consider this for donation .
