Have you used this yarn? I had heard good things about it so thought I would give it a try.
Lion Brand Wool Ease (80% Acrylic, 20% Wool, 197 yards / 180 meters, 3 ounces / 85 grams)
COLORS: Canyon Sunset, Fisherman, Rose Heather, Blush Heather
On the wrapper it suggests using a 6 mm hook. Nope. The yarn is labelled as worsted (#4) weight, I think it's more of an aran weight or light worsted weight yarn. But it seems lately that companies are creating the worsted weight yarn thinner. Does it feel that way to you as well?
After doing the first 2 starting rounds on a beanie I knew I wouldn't be buying this again. My hands are very sensitive to wool and rough yarn. It is only 20% wool, which usually doesn't bother me, but this yarn is not soft and smooth. The items I made will get donated which is fine, but I wouldn't use this yarn to make a gift for someone special.
It does split if you aren't careful. Quite annoying when you are trying to make a textured beanie. Maybe it's the way I crochet.... not sure, but usually I don't have a problem with yarn splitting. It is wound quite loosely, maybe that's the issue.
The colors are a bit like heather yarn, not a solid color. They have many pretty colors. I knew I would be making hats so picked 4 colors I hoped would go together. Also knew it would be a design that wasn't unisex, so went with pinks and the cream color. Usually I'm not a fan of pink, but these are nice pinks.
Here are the hats I made as well as a scarf & cowl set.
It's too bad I don't care for this yarn. Mary Maxim has a sale on this and other Lion Brand yarns right now. Would be a good time to stock up.

This was the first “wool” yarn I used 20 years ago when I was making woolen longies for my babies. Back then it was wonderful and softer. It was such a dream to work with compared to acrylic yarns. I just bought this again to make my now 20 year old a blanket and it is awful. I was commenting to my hubby who grew up around yarn how awful this is now. It used to be a solid. 5 and now I give it one star. There were MANY joins in half the skein. It ruined my project. There were spots where it was thick and split and so thin it felt like hair. When I got so disgusted…
Nice review. I had an older version of this yarn that was quite nice. The colors now are love.y but I have not purchased any in past couple years. Not sure I want to at this point. Thanks for the current insight
I used it to make ami bears. That's what was called for. But quite using it as I think the quality has gone down from when I bought it years ago. Found something else to use in it's place.
